Long ago in the Iron Age a shadow loomed over a lonely village.
For generations the village youths are stolen from their families and delivered as sacrifice to a mythical beast - the Minotaur, that dwells beneath a great palace.
Theo, haunted by the loss of his love in an earlier sacrifice is convinced that the beast isn't real and that his girl still lives as a slave within the palace. His father Cyrnan, the village leader, tries to reason with Theo not to go but Theo is driven by blind rage. He devises a plan and is taken with the other youths who are dragged screaming from their families.
Arriving in the vast, ominous palace, Theo and the youths are brought before Deucalion and his lavishly beautiful sister Raphaela. After a hedonistic ritual to the Minotaur, Raphaela has Theo separated from the others and attempts to seduce him. Deucalion discovers them together and, enraged with jealousy orders Raphaela, Theo and the rest of the youths to be thrown into the dark pits - where the Minotaur dwells.
In the darkness deep below the palace, Theo soon realises they're in a labyrinth, and being stalked by a monstrous presence. In a flash of razor-sharp horns the beast thunders through the darkness toward them. Raphaela and the others desperately try to find a way out of the deadly maze but are cornered and ferociously killed, one by one.
With only Theo and Raphaela left, the terrifying Minotaur finally reveals itself. Emaciated and crazed, it slashes with vast talons at Theo whom is dwarfed by its size. Armed with nothing but his wits Theo takes a stand against the creature and, using the beast's own weapons against itself, he manages to outwit and finally kill it.
In the stillness following the battle, Raphaela leads Theo and two surviving youths to safety. They emerge back in the palace where Theo confronts Deucalion. Theo then kills him with the horn of the Minotaur, setting his village free from the tyrant and the beast, forever.
